My Students

Help my students become the best spellers they could possibly be by giving them the opportunity to use classroom dictionaries! Currently, our class dictionaries are falling apart and missing pages.

These lovable thirteen-year-old students are smart, passionate, and highly motivates learners (with a little prodding).

My students love to write short stories, poems, and love The Hunger Games series. They are part of a high-poverty school and many do not have the basic materials needed to be successful throughout the school day.

My Project

Imagine a world where everyone is a perfect speller. That is how I envision my classroom by the end of the year when they are accustomed to using dictionaries on a daily basis. Learning how to use a dictionary is an important function that I will teach my students on their journey through 7th grade.

This will help students in the future by giving them the knowledge of how to correctly spell words.

By starting to heavily focus on spelling in middle school, students will be more prepared to write papers in high school and college admission essays.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
