My Students

Show my children the money and they will learn to count coins, make change, and solve real life money problems. My students can greatly benefit from hands on materials to help them learn this important concept.

If you were to walk into my classroom, what would you see?

You would see a diverse group of students filled with enthusiasm and a joy for learning. I love how they are like sponges, thirsting for knowledge, and excited to learn something new. Like most 7 and 8 year old kids, they love money, but have trouble counting it and making change. Understanding money concepts are an important life skill. My students can benefit greatly from supplemental money materials.

My Project

Students learn best when they can practice concepts in a hands-on way. The math book that my students are currently using could greatly benefit from materials to help reinforce the concepts being taught in the book. Money is a difficult concept for many students. Having paper money and plastic coins for the students to use would allow them to practice counting and making change in a very concrete way. With the addition of math games and technology, like the CD-ROM Making Cents game, my students are sure to become money masters!

Understanding money concepts is a skill that students will use for their entire lives.
