Help Middle Schoolers Experience Medieval Times!

My students need admission tickets to Medieval Times dinner theatre and tournament to experience what they learning about in Social Studies class.

My Students

Have you ever secretly hoped for the chance to go on an amazing trip back in time to meet the people you've been studying about in history class? With your support, my students will be able to do just that-as they travel to Medieval Times dinner theater and tournament in South Carolina!

My 83 6th graders are excited about learning, appreciative of even the smallest treat, and yearn to experience things outside of their small North Carolina town.

Many of their families understand the value of education, and want to give their children more than they currently have, but struggle to make ends meet. Unfortunately, many students I teach do not have the resources to travel and pay for trips such as this one. I teach at a racially diverse school in North Carolina where over 70 percent of children receive free and reduced lunch. Despite any hardships these children may face before they reach my classroom, my students work hard, have a positive attitude, and are willing to help and encourage each other. Please consider making a lifelong impact on the lives of 83 special adolescents by making a donation to this trip. You will be part of creating lifelong memories that otherwise would not be possible for many of these wonderful students.

My Project

Upon arriving at Medieval Times dinner theater, students will be transported back to 11th century Spain. They will gaze at the castle's stone walls and brightly colored flags, and thrill to be announced by name and led to their section of the royal jousting ring. Next students will be led to a more shadowy area of the castle, the dungeon. As students stare at torture devices and other artifacts from this time period, the violence of the religious Crusades and feudal system they have been studying will seem as real as the metal objects they touch in their hands. After the dungeon tour students will tour the remainder of the castle, returning to their seat to be served lunch by actors in medieval dress and demeanor. They will be swept away by the story of 6 knights fighting for the honor of their homelands, in front of a medieval royal court. The sights of leaping horses and sounds of clashing blades of steel during a joust will be high points of this unforgettable day!

In the 11 years I have taught I've worked with many amazing students.

However, I've never dreamed so big as to take a team of students on an overnight out-of-state trip. These outstanding children have made me and my teammates want to take on the extra burden of fundraising and organizing such a trip. Your donations will make a lifelong positive difference in the lives of children who may never otherwise get to experience the hands-on learning, joy, and excitement that this trip will provide.
