Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is very diverse, with the bulk of our population coming from African American, Hispanic, and Asian backgrounds. We do our best to appreciate our rich heritage in our cultures. However, the stark reality is obvious the moment the bell rings...

The reality is this: we are a middle school.

We would be blind to not notice that racial tensions, prejudicial sentiments, and bullying incidents still raise challenges on any given occasion. We believe that in order to combat racism and bullying in our school, we must educate ourselves and others on the key contributions of each individual's rich and varied heritage. Also, we cannot avoid examining the causes of bullying and the steps we can take to minimize it.

My Project

My students have an interest in creating an interactive iBook that educates their peers on diversity and bullying. With an iPad, students would have a chance to read and view their publications in their intended format. We could then publish our iBooks on iTunes U to display to our community that our school stands against prejudice, racism, and bullying in all their forms.

With your donation, you would be giving our students a chance to make their own mark in promoting a culture that values people from all backgrounds.

With the creation of an interactive digital book, we could send this same message around the globe.
