My Students

This year our district has adopted the Readers/Writers Workshop method. The opening and closing are a big part of this process, and students must gather at the rug for this. My hand-me-down rug is full of holes, and we keep tripping. I am afraid someone is going to get hurt!

My 25 third grade students are a part of a school that is 1% away from becoming Title 1 funded.

Many of the children come from challenging backgrounds, and school is a safe haven for them. I want a bright, vibrant rug to welcome them to our meeting spot.

My Project

We need a safe, hole-free rug for Morning Meeting and Readers/Writers Workshop. These components of our day are so important in building a strong classroom community. The Readers/Writers Workshop model requires a strong opening and closing. We always meet at the carpet for these times.

Having this new carpet will provide a safe, welcoming meeting spot where a good portion of our learning takes place.

A new, hole-free carpet will help to keep children from the distraction of pulling on the strings.
