Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember how much fun it was to play dress up? My special education preschool students just love to pretend to be doctors, police officers, chefs and firefighters, but our dress-up clothes are worn out and falling apart.

My students all have special needs - they have difficulties with learning, social skills, and most also have speech and language delays.

In addition, many come from families that speak other languages and so they are also learning English as a second language. But they are curious and imaginative children and they love to play pretend.

My Project

My students need dress-up clothes so they can participate in age appropriate, dramatic play activities. Engaging in pretend play encourages my students' creativity and imagination. Dramatic play helps my students to develop better social skills and to use more language.

Our dress-up clothes are worn out and falling apart.

My students need new dress-up clothes so that they can pretend to be doctors, police officers, chefs and firefighters. When my students play creatively they use more language and they develop better social skills.
