Ban Bullying from Our Classroom

My students need a class rug for our anti- bullying activities, a class copy of "Bullying in Schools" and other literature for reading and writing about bullying.

My Students

Do you remember not wanting to go to school because someone had bullied you? Bullying can interfere with students' successes in education. Many times students bully because they have trouble managing emotions such as anger or frustration or they don't know how to resolve conflicts.

My kindergarten students are in a large school of about 900 students.

There are seven classes in kindergarten. Often students are expected to cooperate with a large group of children on the playground, at lunch and at dismissal. We want our kindergarten students to learn how to resolve conflicts and express feelings appropriately at this young age. If we end bullying in kindergarten, hopefully, it would lead to the elimination of bullying in the whole school and the local community.

My Project

I am requesting a carpet where my students can come together as a "team" and discuss bullying. I would use the copy of "Bullying in Schools" from Townsend Press to facilitate discussions about what is bullying and ways to stop it. The other anti-bullying literature I am requesting would help the students role play ways to handle bullying. We would role play with puppets that are currently in our classroom.

Your donation will help fight bullying and provide my students with a safe haven to come to and discuss bullying.

The book "Bulling in Schools" will provide me with the information I need to be a facilitator in these talks. With other literature, my students will learn how to deal with strong feelings and conflict. We will establish a more peaceful climate in which everyone feels safe and can be successful.
