I Can't Hear You!

My students need 8 external microphones so they can be heard while making their PSA (Public Service Announcements) to encourage others to read.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"I can't hear you!" This is a common phrase I hear in class not just from my students, but I also think it when I am trying to figure out what my students are saying. When they make videos telling others about a novel they have read, their volume gets even lower. They need a little assistance so they can be heard.

My students are enrolled in a 7th Grade English class in a middle school located in California.

They are eager to learn from their peers and they enjoy working with technology. They all willingly participate in the PSA assignment, but the main drawback is the audio portion. It seems that the cameras are not picking the students' softer voices. That's when I hear, "I can't hear you." Turning up the volume on the speakers doesn't help because someone still says, "I can't hear you."

My Project

Eight microphones will amp up the volume in the classroom. Students will be able to hear what their classmates are saying about the novels they have read. Students will also learn the importance of speaking up, speaking out, and speaking on a topic they are familiar with.

This project is important because it is an extension to their reading.

It provides opportunities for them to do something more than just write a report about a novel they have read. It is also important because they are able to learn from their classmates and work collaboratively with them by creating something they can all be proud of.
