Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

You might remember being in school and your teacher using a overhead projector. Today students have a lot of different distractions that use bright and vibrant computer animations. My students need bright and dynamic presentations on a modern LCD projector and not the old fashion overhead projector.

My students are a diverse group from various backgrounds both culturally and sociol-economically.

My students are generally interested in learning. They sometimes need engaging activities and presentations to hook them as they learn. I teach ninth through twelfth grade in biology, AP biology, and physics.

My Project

Though I do currently have a LCD projector, it is eight years old and only about 1400 lumens which translates to the fact that anytime I want to show a PowerPoint presentation, animation, video, website, blog, simulation, pictures, etc, I have to close the blinds turn, turn off the lights, and hope the day is not to sunny. Even with everything closed and off the morning sun shines into my room with a ferocity that makes the light from my projector pale in comparison with the sun, which in turn washes out the picture and makes it difficult for students to view and follow along.

To my prospective donors please realize that this one donation has many beneficial outcomes which include bright and vibrant presentations that do not require to turn the class into a prime spot for napping with blinds closed and lights off but rather an energetic and dynamic lab of learning.
