Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Does you mom or any of your family members have any of your Kinder work? They bring a lot of memories. Times have changed, current Kinder students do most of their work using technology. Yes, they are very computer sassy. Due to the current budget cuts we don't have a printer to show work.

My Kinder students are all very hard workers.

I have a very diverse class. My students come from a low social-economic, Spanish speaking community. 95% of students participate in the free lunch program. Parents are caring but lack the ability to purchase anything but the necessities. Most of my students are learning english as a secondary language. Visuals and hands-on activities are the best way for them to learn, therefore technology is very important for their education. Since we are a big school, we only get to go to the computer lab once a week for about 35 minutes. I have a few computers in my classroom however, we don't use them much because we are lacking a printer. My students love to work on the computer as they can create shapes and play around with colors. The sad part is that they never get to keep those projects because we can not print them. As a male kinder teacher it is very important to advance my students in technology.

My Project

All of my students are very hard workers. Most of them know how to read and write basic sentences. My goal is to make sure I give them the necessary tools so they can become effect students. My students love technology, I plan on using the few computers I have as a reward time for those students who need motivation. I intend to use various computer programs to help my struggling students understand the letter and their sounds. A computer with out a printer is not as valuable for my students. You should see their smiles as they print their rewards. Without the printer, I would not be able to make use of the computers I have in the classroom. My students and I are asking you to help advance our technology knowledge. I expect my students to one day go to college. They need to learn such skills now. Please help. We promise to work hard and make the best use of the printer. Starting with writing you a take you note.

I become a teacher because I want to give the best education possible for all my students.

Kindergarten curriculum had evolved from when we were little. Our students are expected to read by the end of the year. Just like everyone now, technology is a big part of our lived, the same is for my students. They surprise me every time we are in the computer lab with how fast they can learn. A printer in our room will allow us to use the computers in our room and not wait to get to the computer lab.
