This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you imagine what it is like for 25 second graders to be told daily that they have to wait because there is only one computer that is not too old to connect to the Internet? Servicing two students at a time instead of one will be a great beginning to accessing our curriculum.

Many of my students are struggling readers and second language learners.

They attend our Title 1(Socio-Economically Disadvantaged) school, and a majority of them participate in the free lunch program. These children are hard-working and eager to learn. In order to fully understand what they are reading, they need lots of visual clues. The online programs that they will have access to will support this need.

My Project

The laptop computer will be used to provide more students with access to the Internet. The children are excited about the new Treasures reading program and love to go on the computer to practice their reading skills. Since our school adopted the Accelerated Reader program, my students are reading more books, more often, and begging to go on the computer to take the reading comprehension quizzes. The laptop computer will provide the visual cues the students need to help them with reading comprehension. We will also be able to connect the laptop to our classroom projector so that all students may see lessons at the same time on a large screen.

In today's technologically advanced world, it is important that our students are provided with the same opportunities as other students.

I want to prepare my class to compete with students from all walks of life. Any assistance that you can give us will be greatly appreciated.
