This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students have started a knitting club and want to complete one community project per semester. Our first project will be a cooperative knitted quilt to give to local shelters.
This is a diverse group of students who have come together to start a knitting club.
The one thing they have in common is that they all have a desire to help others in our community while learning a life skill. In a day when many students can't imagine putting their phone down, these students not only are putting down their phones they are picking up knitting needles to help others.
My Project
By donating to this project you will help these students learn a skill that will last a lifetime, help create quilts for local shelters, helmet caps for soldiers abroad, and improve the students' math skills (they may not know it, but kitting helps with math).
Yarn, knitting needles and some books are all that this club needs to begin working on projects that will help to create a close knit community.
