Being able to set up and execute discovery and hands-on labs has been a challenge not having enough materials to provide each student with adequate time to learn with technology. Thanks to your donation, I have been able to allow for more opportunities for students to use the microscopes and tie the activity back to our content. When the microscopes first arrived, I had a line of students asking when they would be able to use them. They were looking up activities and lessons on their own that related to the current content and allowed for microscope use; they started suggesting and sending them to me! I even had a parent donate a new box of premade biology slides for my class because their student was so excited to be able to use the microscopes.\r\nThe most recent activity we did with the microscopes was an explorer activity. Students were able to pick out any 3 slides from a set and make observations about them. They then had to write a statement explaining why they chose those slides, what they learned through their observations, and what questions they still have and would like to explore the answer to. Many students chose to look at insect parts, blood cells, and plant parts and cells. They explained that they wanted to get a closer look at organisms they already see in their everyday life. \r\nThe available use of this technology has sparked the interest and curiosity of many of my students who never used to contribute. Thank you again for supporting this hands-on learning opportunity that is so crucial to students.","fullyFundedDate":1760629224287,"projectUrl":"project/seeing-the-world-through-a-new-lens/9637257/","projectTitle":"Seeing the World Through a New Lens","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Troiso","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9638023"},{"teacherId":9864788,"projectId":8991184,"letterContent":"This technology has truly helped our classroom expand by giving students an opportunity to make photography apart of their schoolwork. The classes that use these cameras are the \"The Warrior\" yearbook and the \"Hawk Talk\" magazine, and both have been able to get as many pictures as necessary for their stories. These pictures are published along with their story for the school and overall public to read. This gives students a great opportunity to learn about cameras and how they work. Not only that, but it ensures that they learn about professionalism in photography, like how to make scheduled plans for photoshoots, how to get the right props, and how to find the right people for their photos. \r\n\r\nMany students are very happy with these cameras as they have great quality and are extremely portable. These cameras have been very useful with this upcoming school year as phones are not allowed outside of the classroom anymore in Florida, even out in the halls. The opportunity these students have to take these pictures in a professional matter is very comforting, as it allows them to still have their creative freedom, even in respect of the school. I'm very proud of my students and I can't wait to see what photography they produce in the future. \r\n\r\nThank you for your donations to our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1738250650457,"projectUrl":"project/cameras-to-capture-our-high-school-years/8991184/","projectTitle":"Cameras to Capture Our High School Years","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gilbert","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9864788"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_46933","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1394,"numTeachers":94,"percentFrplEligible":53,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":73,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":12,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"14.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":55.2,"schoolId":46933,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Seminole High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Seminole High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/pinellas-county-schools/seminole-high-school/46933"}
