Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

With technology evolving so quickly, many times students don't have the latest technology to support their learning. My students have a strong drive to learn but do not have the latest and greatest technology to compete.

My students attend a school where the rate of poverty is high and the majority of students qualify for free lunch program.

They are sixth grade ESL students which means that they are learning English as a Second Language. Many of them come from different countries and come here for a better future. They have a strong drive to learn but sometimes due to lack of resources might miss a learning opportunity. I want to provide and support their strong drive to learn. There are also many educational applications that are available with the Tablet and I want my students to have access and exposure to what resources are available.

My Project

As a English learner myself, I remember many times I lacked the resources that other students had. I grew up in a time where computers were starting to emerge and I remembered wanting to have one but my family could not afford to buy me one. I don't want my students to miss that opportunity in my classroom. I want my students to have the chance to see and work with technology. I am hoping that it will inspire them to become entrepreneurs in our fast-pace world. There are many educational applications that can be used and maybe the Tablet will even inspire my students to become application creators. I want to be able to provide that spark in their brains to become innovative thinkers. This Tablet will provide inspiration in the different ideas that are waiting to be created. I am trying to implement more technology in my classes and the tablet will provide me with the opportunity to show my students how to create Power Points and videos to supplement the curriculum.

The Tablet is an important tool for the students to be exposed to.

The technology that's available, whether it's through the use of different applications or creating Power Point slides, is amazing. Technology is such a powerful tool that should be used to supplement any curriculum. I want my students to be able to utilize technology. Technology is moving in the direction of Tablets and exposing my students to it will greatly benefit them.
