Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Not being able to buy your own groceries or do your own banking is a reality facing my students. Helping them learn the concept of money is a start for then to learn a life long skill.

My students are low functioning students who are on the Autism spectrum.

They are high school students attending an urban school of low income families. They have difficulty in understanding money. For example, going shopping to buy a bag of apple costing $3.00. My students do not understand how much they will get back if they pay $5.00.

My Project

I do not want to see my students, graduating school, not being able to go shopping for themselves. I would like to see them open a bank account and be able to maintain it. I would like to give my students the confidence of understanding money and being independent in that area as an adult.

By playing these money games, and practicing their money skills, we'll be able to give these students a life long skill that they could be proud of.

Helping my students reach this goal is also something you can be proud of! Thank you!
