Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you imagine seeing a world in only black and white. Imagine how much more creative that world could be to a student if it were in color. My students struggle with the most basic concepts/vocabulary, having the ability to print colorful items will help them learn and grasp English concepts/vocabulary.

I am teaching a very diverse group of 3rd graders at a California Title 1 school that is mainly English Language Learners with many financial difficulties.

I have many English language learners and some students with learning disabilities that affect their learning in various ways. I have some students with attention issues, and others with processing disorders. About 85% of our school receives a free lunch because of financial difficulty. Any opportunity for them to get information in a variety of ways is welcomed. Even though they have a wide range of learning issues, they can all learn through the use of technology! They are capable of using this technology and enjoy using a variety of devices at school because many of them do not have that outside the classroom. Integrating technology into classroom instruction significantly increases student learning and engagement.

My Project

I am requesting a color printer so that my students are able to print bright and engaging materials for use in the classroom. The students at my school are low English Language Learners who need all the help they can get to succeed. With colorful and engaging materials our children will be able to use these resources to facilitate their English Language Acquisition and to simply have fun while learning!
