My Students

Ever been hungry at school and unable to function? My students sometime are. Every looked around your classroom and noticed there was not fun supplies to use? My students have.

I teach in a hard to staff school in Brooklyn.

I teach a kindergarten grade class of nineteen students and very often we run short on supplies. Many times the money for pencils, crayons, regular markers, dry erase markers, erasers, pens, overhead projector markers and sharpeners are items myself and other teachers contribute to students. Having some proper supplies would be a blessing. Often times my students are very hungry and can not focus properly. We truly need some healthy snacks in the classroom to help with this problem. We are in need of markers, pencils, crayons, pretzels and juices. With these items the children will have a more successful day. They would be able to have basic classroom supplies and thus work on assignments more readily. With a snack they will be able to focus and learn that much more.

My Project

Expression is an important aspect of a child's development and too often the children in my classroom are without proper markers, pencils, paper, pens and paints therefore I do hope someone would be willing to assist these children. Markers dry out quickly, and we have been using some inexpensive ones that are dull and dry, coloring pictures to match stories is not as interesting a venture as it should be for the children. The children basically use old crayons. We need some bright fun paints to lively up art and painting in our stories. We need these children, who are still very young to be motivated and inspired to created amazing work. The sort of work they are truly capable of creating. If we are able to get the supplies we need our days would run so much more smoothly.

The children are truly wonderful they come to school each day excited and delighted to be learning and having fun with their friends. They do need some supplies and some snacks that are healthy.
