My Students

“I feel really confident when it comes to test because the notes explain everything, ” comments one of my students about her notebook. I teach in a public high school. The majority of the students are average to above average in socio-economic status. These students are basically mature and motivated.

Last year I made a notebook for my physical science students.

All chapter notes, assignments and vocabularies are in one binder. The notes are in simple terms that clearly state the chapters step by step with examples and diagrams. The notes are made with fill in the blanks, that way the students have to pay more attention during instruction time. I experimented this notebook for two semesters and saw a drastic change in their behavior and most importantly the test scores. Students commented that the notebook makes science easier to understand because it is put into simple terms and provides examples. This helps them to acquire a long-term memory and retrieve relevant knowledge from it during a test or quiz. Students can easily access if they want to go back to a chapter. Some commented that all chapter notes are well organized, also a lot lighter than the text book so they can carry that to home.

My Project

I have assessed my students’ progress and I am extremely satisfied with the overall results. But providing the 1” binder for sixty students is a little too much for my pocket. My students will use the binder every day in class and carry home to study. Everyday handling makes the binders to survive only for two semesters. I will be able to clean, disinfect, and reuse these binders for maximum three semesters.

I have complete assurance in my notebook that will help my students to improve their study skills and confidence in test taking, especially their organization skill. Kindly help me to help our future citizens.
