This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

So many health challenges face teens in our society today. Obesity, disease, drugs, pregnancy, depression, and lack of exercise are just a few. How can we get the word out to our student body?

My students are an amazing group of Freshman.

So bright, so talented. They have done amazing work this semester. They attend a large, urban public school in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Like the other students at our school, they face all of the challenges that make the teen years a mine field.

My Project

Can they take the information presented in our class and synthesize it into a PSA or Public Service Announcement that would encourage students at our school to make better choices on health related topics? Could we reach someone who is mulling over a life changing decision? Can we inspire students and teachers to make healthful decisions? The poster board, paper, and scissors will enable us to encourage, and guide our school's population to a happier, healthier life.

Success in high school has a whole lot to do with the decisions you make.

Sometimes just one step in a negative direction sends a person down a path to a very unhealthy life. Maybe, just maybe, we can make a difference!
