Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

“Books are the plane, and the train, and the road. They are the destination, and the journey. They are home.” ― Anna Quindlen. It is my desire to continue to provide a variety of reading journeys to my avid readers who have been devouring mountains of books but are still hungry for more.

I have the privilege of teaching fourth grade gifted students at a neighborhood school in an urban part of Florida.

My students are a diverse group of eager learners who come from a wide variety of cultural and economic backgrounds. They also have a wide variety of learning needs and challenges. Our school is a Title I school, which means that over 70% of our student population receives free or reduced lunch.

My Project

The main purpose of this project is to be able to continue to supply high interest chapter books to all of my eager readers. Since the beginning of this school year, students in my class have been inspired to be passionate about reading and make reading a lifelong journey. During the past 3 months, my students have read more than 100 books and are still hungry for more. However, my classroom library is in dire need of more books to meet their hungry appetites. It is my desire to continue to motivate students to read and keep their reading flame burning long after they leave my class.

With your generous support and donation, I will be able to provide my students with additional engaging book titles that will further feed their hunger for reading.

They will be able to continue their journey into the world of books and discover all of the hidden treasures reading has to offer. Would you please take time to share in my vision of continuing to ignite a passion for reading?
