Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Each day in our classroom we educate young scholars. Three lessons are taught for three different grade levels each period. It would be so wonderful to have a white board for each group.

I teach middle school special education students who have been placed in my classroom for students with an emotional disturbance.

Often the students I have in my classroom have not been able to be successful due to their behavior or emotional needs. Our school is located in the suburbs of a large school district in Southern California. Students are bussed from various areas in our community, walk, ride their bikes, or are dropped off by their parents each morning for school.

My Project

My students have challenges they face each day much like most middle school students although they have been placed in my classroom for their needs for a smaller, more structured environment with more adult support. They come each day sometimes ready to be educated and other days not starting out as well. Our jobs as educators is to get them to that place where they can learn and be educated. Each day we have success with each of them and it would really love if we had a white board for each group of students that is being taught various curriculum during each period. Our classroom has three grade levels and often three lessons being taught each period. Each lesson is accommodated for each student. We would really love to have the board space to work with each student more effectively.

This donation will allow us to purchase a rolling white board to work with students who come to school wanting to learn and with determination to do better.

Having the opportunity to provide students with visual examples and give them similar opportunities to use the board will give them opportunities to display their successes.
