Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 5th graders work best when they are able to use technology. As a result I am always trying to provide them with a multitude of resources. We have one iPad and a second one has been on their "wish list" for a very long time.

My 5th graders are wonderful students.

They overcome many difficulties at home and in the neighborhood on a daily basis, yet these issues do not seem to dampen their enthusiasm. Our school is located in a very urban section of Southern California. Like everyone else we have been hit with the budget cuts but we are not letting that stop our education.

My Project

An Apple iPad will serve many, many functions in our classroom. It will serve as an eReader for those students who read better from a computer screen. The access to the Internet will allow us to have a portable reference resource. No matter where we are: on a neighborhood walk, at a museum, or on the playground we will have instant access to answers for all our wonderful questions. During workshop time my students will be able to use the many apps to practice math facts, geography facts, and strengthen their problem solving skills.

One device will add so much to our classroom.

It will really allow our learning to be portable. It will allow my students to instantly view pictures, access websites, and complete research projects. The opportunities are limitless and everyone will benefit from your generosity.
