Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a 2nd grade teacher at an inner city school in Compton, California. We are a Title I School in which all of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Our student body is half African-American and half Latino.

My 2nd grade students are eager, young, 7-8 year olds that love to learn!

They are enthusiastic learners that spark with excitement when they see vibrant images that are displayed on the board. They illuminate with intrigue when lessons are taught with images that they can directly connect to a concept. But this is about to come to a screeching halt because our current LCD Projector is about to go out of commission. It is old and it flickers off automatically in the middle of a lesson. The kids gain so much when they learn with images that directly correlate to the concepts at hand. It is a necessity to expose my students to newer heights and greater challenges in all subject matters through the lens of an LCD projector.

My Project

With the use of this LCD projector, my students can be pushed further with PowerPoint presentations, critical thinking slides, and explore interactive websites together with the class. It can also help us incorporate fun educational activities and games on the board. This could help reach every child in the entire class in all subject matters ranging from E.L.A., Math, Science, Social Studies, Art, and much, much more. The possibilities are definitely endless.

It would be phenomenal if I could continue to help them incorporate advanced technology into their everyday activities.

This is my attempt to help my students become more actively engaged in the learning process through the use of continuous exposure to technology. Please, help my students get a fair chance to learn through high quality images and advanced technology that is integrated in to every lesson!
