This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever tried to draw using a brick instead of a pencil? Using a mouse to draw on the computer is just like using a brick to draw on paper.

My students are talented and enthusiastic young artists who are learning the technology skills needed to pursue careers in the arts and entertainment industry.

They attend a Title I high school, which means that they come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. My students need help getting the technology that they need to develop their craft and become marketable 21st century workers.

My Project

Using a pen tablet means saying goodbye to drawing with a mouse which is just like drawing with a brick. With the 10 pen tablets that I am requesting, my students will be able to bring their ideas to life by sketching with ease, directly in the computer. My graphic design students will create hand-drawn digital doodles that can be manipulated using Photoshop and Illustrator. My animation students will draw characters, frame-by-frame, using Flash. Best of all, my students will be trained using the same tools that professionals use, giving them an advantage in the future job market.

My students are talented artists that live in the backyard of famous Hollywood studios.

However, due to their socioeconomic status, they lack the resources to obtain the technology skills they need to be hired by the studios who seek talent elsewhere. They are shut out by circumstance, not talent. My students have the talent. I provide the training. You can give them the technology they need to succeed and grow as professional artists.
