Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Oh yeah, we have moves you’ve never seen before, and you won’t get to see those moves unless we have music to dance to. Help us shake our tail feathers by donating to our dancing unit. Let us step to the beat to every line dance out there and shake, rattle, and roll to dances from around the world

My students attend school in an urban environment.

Most of the students have rough home lives and gym class is a way for them to let of some steam and work together with others. For most of my students, I am their first physical education teacher. My students are very energetic and willing to try new activities. I have had multiple students ask to learn new dances in class.

My Project

The music CD's will be used for grades pre k through 8th grade. The rhythm sticks will be used for grades pre k through 2nd grade to learn how to stay with the rhythm of the music. The music from around the world will be used to teach dances from other cultures and the music will also coincide with social studies units. The music will be used to have the students create a dance in a group and tell a story through their dance. These CD's can be used in multiple ways and will be used in all grades levels. These CD's will help to teach the students popular dances from the 60's, 70's, 80's and today.

Dance is a great way to exercise and it helps to teach the students how to move their bodies.

Dancing helps to improve children's memories because they are required to remember different dance steps in the correct order. Dance allows students to be creative and feel a sense of accomplishment upon learning each dance. Dance is a great way for students to let loose and have fun. Let us dance by donating to our dance unit.
