Your donations have allowed students from kindergarten through 7th grade to experience real, hands-on theatre in ways many of them have never had access to before. My 7th graders are using the props in their final scenes to explore character, movement, and storytelling with a new level of confidence and professionalism. My kindergarten and 1st grade students are using puppets and dramatic play to explore emotions, collaboration, and oral language in a fun and developmentally appropriate way. This winter, our 6th graders will use the animal masks in a Winter Solstice performance of an adaptation of The Mitten for the entire school and their families—giving them the chance to step into leadership roles as performers in a their first production. One of my favorite moments so far was watching a typically quiet 7th grader choose a prop, step into character, and completely transform as their classmates laughed and encouraged her. That moment of courage and celebration was possible because of you.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their reactions were priceless—wide eyes, gasps, and repeated questions like, \"This is for us?\" The resources instantly made the space feel like a \"real\" theatre classroom. For our younger students, the puppets and masks sparked immediate creativity as they invented characters and scenes on the spot. For our older students, the props signaled that their voices, stories, and performances are valued and worthy of investment. Moving forward, students will continue using these materials to refine their performances, deepen their understanding of storytelling, and prepare for our upcoming Winter Solstice production. Your support has not only supplied tools, but has helped establish a drama program that gives our students space to be brave, expressive, and seen. Thank you for believing in them.","fullyFundedDate":1755127787546,"projectUrl":"project/first-year-drama-teacher/9574714/","projectTitle":"First Year Drama Teacher","teacherDisplayName":"Mx. These resources have made a tremendous difference in our classroom. We use our calendar every morning, and students love to plan out the weeks of the month on the calendar. We go over birthdays, school event days, field trips, and school days off. We also use our whiteboards every day, especially for math. As we hit flu season, we are especially thankful for the tissues and hand sanitizer. \r\n\r\nWe received our materials about three weeks into the school year. Students were so excited as a member of the custodial staff had to bring up TWO carts of materials. It was very exciting for these kids to understand that the materials in our classroom are not always a given. Most of the materials in this room, outside of the necessary curriculum materials, are purchased by me. It was a major relief not having to buy all the things leading into the school year, as I can now purchase things as necessary throughout the year. \r\n\r\nYour incredible donation has helped to show students the importance of community and taking care of materials. Students are more careful with the materials in the room as they recognize that these were gifts and need to be appreciated, and will be used by our class and other classes to come. \r\n\r\nYour donation has made a huge impact on my classroom. I received my books, and the students love them! We have been reading them in our small groups to practice reading aloud. The books are a great way to reinforce our phonics skills. Plus, they're funny, so the students enjoy them. Because we have several copies of the same titles, I can assign an entire group the same book. The students then read with their partners, and they can help each other before we read the book together. The books also have word exercises at the end, so I can check the students' story comprehension.\r\n\r\nI am very grateful to the DonorsChoose Community, which helped to fund this project.
