My students need to be able see the anchor charts as they are created during Reading and Writing Workshop. This easel is critical to our students learning.
We are teaching our student's using the Reading and Writing Workshop model. Each mini-lesson begins with an anchor chart recording the important parts. Right now our students sit on a carpet and have to clump together in order to see the chart.
Our class is full of wonderful kids who are so excited to learn.
We often hear the excitement in their voices when they are called to carpet corner for Reading and Writing Workshop. Each student comes to carpet corner to hear the mini-lesson and then is sent off to do their own reading and writing...it's a beautiful thing.
My Project
This easel has it all. The board is big enough to hold all the information we want to express. The space under the easel will make it so easy for us to have all our supplies in one place. We teach our students to have all their reading and writing tools easily accessible to them every day. This easel would help us model the behavior we expect.
Having a clear place for our students to look during instruction time will allow them to be more successful when we send them off to their independent reading and writing.
The charts we create will them be placed around the room so they can check in on what is expected of them.
