My Students

The difference between good and great is sometimes so small it goes unnoticed. It is that extra push that creates GREAT success. Curriculum that is created in black and white may be good-but COLOR would be GREAT.

My students are a gift.

They are also all students who walk through life with moderate to severe disabilities including Autism, Down Syndrome, and Intellectual Disabilities. They amaze and inspire me everyday by overcoming obstacles with a smile on their face! High School is a time of great changes, and it is no different for my students. They are learning the life skills that they will need in order to be happy, successful, independent adults.

My Project

“For, in the end, it is impossible to have a great life unless it is a meaningful life. And it is very difficult to have a meaningful life without meaningful work.” ― Jim Collins. A color printer will help build meaningful school work for my students!! Printing in color will allow me to create crisp, vivid, real-life images that they can relate to. Imagine that you are only able to rely on black and white graphics in order to complete a shopping trip at the grocery store. Many products in a grocery store are partly defined by their color of the rainbow. With a color printer, my students will be able to "learn" in color.

Each one of my students has individual educational goals that are as unique as a fingerprint.

Therefore, inherently, there is no district "adopted" curriculum. You will never see a modern textbook with only black and white photographs to illustrate and enhance the text. Classrooms are filled with textbooks that include relevant and colorful pictures that students can connect with. My students deserve this same type of quality curriculum and a color printer could make it possible.
