My students need beakers to perform lab experiments. We have very few and must scramble for containers. We also need the skeleton for hands-on learning of the human body.

My Students

In science, students learn best by performing labs and other hangs on projects. We do not have enough beakers to successfully complete many of the labs my students desire to complete. Also, we do not have a skeleton in our classroom. I remember the hands-on bone lessons we had in junior high.

My students are a curious bunch.

The yearn for hands-on projects which we can only do very few because of the lack of certain materials. They are very creative and want to design their own labs, but often cannot find enough equipment to complete the labs they design. Our school will buy what we need, but often times the lab equipment is last. We are in a low socio-economic rural area.

My Project

With these beakers, we will be able to compare different chemicals in hands on learning. As for the skeleton, students find it hard to picture the bones and how they move and with the addition of a skeleton in our classroom, students can actually place their hands on bones and move them as they wish. We do not have one in our entire school.

With the addition of these supplies, the students will be able to complete the hands-on learning activities that they desire to do.

This will allow me to vary the instruction in my classroom and reach students who do not learn by the lecture-style of teaching.
