Art Supplies For a Special Needs School

My students need fabric markers to design our annual summer school T-shirts for carnival; canvas for our art exhibit, and portfolio sets because they are visual learners.

My Students

Our school is a self contained special needs school. We are open year round and need a lot of art materials to keep the art program afloat. Many projects and materials have to be tailored in order to accommodate all the various cognitive and physical needs of my students.

My students have a wide range of disabilities such as autism, downs syndrome, and cerebral palsy just to name a few.

like to create a wide range of projects to meet all their various needs. I want to make art an exciting experience where all can benefit and explore. Our school is open 12 months and we have a lot of fun in the summer. I requested fabric markers so we can design our annual themed summer carnival T-shirts. Even the paraprofessionals and teachers get to design one to wear.

My Project

Many of my students are not able to speak, read or write but they are able to fully express themselves through their art work! Art is an important subject in our curriculum, all the classes have art at least once a week. It is a class in which they can create and have fun as well. We put music on and create! I get hugs all the time, art is a favorite with many of my students. I like to collaborate with classroom and other cluster teachers in order to make lessons more multi-dimensional.

These students need these materials in order to make their wonderful T-shirts and show them off at our carnival in August.

We are always in need of art supplies, the budgets are not very big and supplies are expensive. Please help my students experience art to its fullest through the various medium available. The more supplies we have the more we can create.
