My Students

What better way to learn something than by building? Students are use to sitting in desks and learning from a book, but does that help them in the "real world?" No! They need to apply the information that they are learning. What better way to do this than by building a hydrogen fuel car?

My students live in a rural area, many of them living 15 miles or more from our school.

With rising gas prices, alternative energies are something that our students need to be thinking about. My students attend 8th grade in a Jr. High, with about 900 students.

My Project

I want my students to learn the chemistry involved in the making of a hydrogen fuel cell, that clean energy is made and used. I also want them to look objectively at this type of alternative energy and determine if this energy is efficient. Alternative energy is definitely a key word in our society, and a concept that my students do not have much exposure to.

My students live in a rural area, the technology for alternative energy is not as prevalent here as it may be in a more urban area.

I want my students to be exposed to alternative energies and be able to discuss their importance within society.
