My students need book series! I have found that they get hooked on the characters in a book and are hungry for more! Book series are a terrific way to accomplish this!!
Have you ever been reading a book and wished it would never end? Have you ever been thrilled to know that your favorite author has written a sequel allowing you to "spend more time" with your favorite characters? If so, you'll know exactly why I'm looking for book series for my students!
Our school is made up of a diverse group of kids.
Just over 75% are eligible for free or reduced priced meals and many do not have access to as many books as we'd like.
Our school has two classes each of kindergarten through fifth grade students. In addition we have an on-site preschool and a family resource center.
My Project
Students will have the opportunity to choose and read books in a series that are located directly in their classroom libraries. It is our hope that by making these book series available on a daily basis in the classroom libraries, it will excite and encourage the students to want to continue and read beyond just one book.
As students leave our school as fifth graders, we want to have them leave as life long readers.
What better way than to have them find the joy in a favorite author or series? Please help us help our students with this goal.
