This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Practice, Practice, Practice. My students need books at their reading level to practice reading everyday!
I teach in a high poverty urban area in Michigan.
I am at a public charter school with a diverse population. Many of my students do not have books at home and our school does not have a library. I teach second graders with low reading levels and lots of heart.
My Project
These reading books are at the students’ instructional level. They can pick books that are just right and not too hard or too easy. If they are too hard they will become frustrated and not excited to read. I am committed to instill a love of reading and have a desire to provide the best reading materials for these children.
These students can show their true colors only if they are given the opportunity to shine.
These students have a desire to learn and absorb all the world has to offer. Thank you for helping all these future doctors and lawyers.
