This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Helping build Middle School age girls self-esteem by staying interested in physical activity. I am a Physical Education teacher at a Pennsylvania urban K-8 public school. This school is located in a lower economic neighborhood with 100% low income and at least 95% of our students receive free lunch.

This school was built to ease overcrowding at another neighborhood school.

The school was supposed to open in 2007 with 700 to 750 students, but now in September 2010, it has over 950 students. The school opened up short of teachers and materials. We opened up with just one class in the gym at a time, but now in September 2010, there are two classes at once. That means, I need double the equipment at times to keep 66 students moving and active. We also have an interscholastic sports program. The students are eager to participate and learn about team sports. The school has students that love physical activity especially volleyball. The school just needs more funding for equipment.

My Project

The resources I am asking for are 1 Tachikara Quick Reach Volleyball Cart Navy 16 KNEE PAD WHITE and 1 BOARD COACHES VOLLEYBALL. These resources will help the girls to achieve excellence in volleyball and in life. We value every student within our school and make a commitment to provide the best opportunities for her growth personally, athletically, and as a volleyball player. Self-esteem is related to how we feel about ourselves. It's not just how we look but how we feel and it's not just how successful or smart others say we are, but how confident we feel about our talents and abilities. The girls who are actively involved in volleyball will develop confidence in themselves by learning more about themselves in a team situation

Please help me keep girls Physically active.

Volleyball is a great game that students learn eye hand coordination, agility, sportsmanship, and builds high self-esteem, especially with girls who are self-conscious about their bodies. Please help me keep 12,13, and 14 year old girls active by supporting my physical education and athletic program in these tough financial times. Thank you.
