Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Create and operate a new virtual business each year. This year the students have chosen a green themed business called EARTHWISE. They will be selling green products and services to other virtual businesses and individual customers at Virtual Enterprise trade fairs and online.

In 2009, my students won the Virtual Enterprise (VE) National Business Plan Competition in New York City.

They are future business leaders who dress professionally to compete for jobs. They bring resumes to their interviews to get hired in VE at a low socio-economic California school rich in tradition. The students operated a consumer electronic virtual business as a team. They formed a corporation and received a virtual salary in accordance to their job titles and descriptions. Over the last six years, my students have set up booths to sell their virtual products at trade fairs in Long Beach, San Francisco, Bakersfield, Virginia Beach and New York City. They are hard working, self motivated and charismatic. The purpose of VE is to train students how to budget, sell, and present in the virtual world before they enter their careers in the real world. They create websites, product catalogs, and video commercials with great graphics and photography that require cutting edge technology.

My Project

We need a new laptop computer to use while traveling to competitions at Virtual Enterprise Trade Fairs in San Francisco, Long Beach, and New York. The students will upload their new QuickBooks Pro 2010 software to this new laptop and be able to keep accurate books for their start up company's fiscal year. The VP of Accounting will take the laptop to trade fairs and update sales information on a daily basis. He will report to the company's Chief Financial Officer. The CFO will review the numbers and give the company's analysis of the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow and Break Even Analysis to the company's real world CPA. The new laptop will also be used to create PowerPoint presentation and can be used for business purposes at the trade fair booth. The laptop provides the flexibility that the students need to constantly be doing business on the go where it be on the Amtrak to San Francisco, at the workstations of business partners, or in the classroom.

Confidence in business and in life is essential.

My students are a part of something that is bigger than themselves. They believe in what they are doing and are developing tools to help them succeed. Now they need your help to take them to a higher level. Your donations will help at least 30 students each year. For the last 3 years, my students have placed in the top 5 in the California State Business Plan Competition qualifying for the Nationals in New York. They are hungry to return again.
