From LP to IPOD: Help Upgrade Technology in Our Classroom

My Students

Please help bring my classroom into the 21st Century! Yes, my students listen to music on an old record player and/or "boombox" with cassette player. When I show them a record for the first time, they sadly call it a "big CD".

My kindergarteners are part of a large urban school district.

Like many districts, our school has been hit hard by budget constraints. Supplies and programs for art and music are being eliminated in many schools including ours. My students love to dance, sing, and learn to keep beat to the music. This is difficult to manage if I don't have the resources to do it.

My Project

An IPOD will help me organize and store new music all in one place. We listen to and sing along with nursery rhymes, chants, and songs for celebrations like kindergarten graduation. An IPOD will also make it easier to play their favorite songs over and over again.

Learning songs has the benefit of enhancing all areas of the curriculum such as language arts, math, and physical education.

Music always keeps my students more focused and attentive in class.
