My Students

Imagine what it would be like if Steven Spielberg was never given a camera? What if his creativity and big screen dreams had been stifled? My students dream of creating dramatic, thrilling movie trailers. Unfortunately, they need video recorders to film them.

I teach 9th grade Language Arts Literacy.

My students love reading classic short stories including "The Most Dangerous Game" and "The Cask of Amontillado". These thrilling tales often remind my students of plots they have followed in current movies. Unfortunately, these tales did not make it to the big screen. As a series of cooperative projects, my students would like to make movie trailers for the short stories they read in class.

My Project

As their teacher, I look for innovative strategies that incorporate technology in student learning. Even though my students may not realize it, in doing this project they will demonstrate reading comprehension skills, practice cooperative learning, and learn all sorts of technological skills! As an added bonus, the movie trailers will serve as previews and create excitement in future students. The only way these movie trailers will become reality is through a donation of Panasonic video recorders. These video recorders are perfect because they are easy to use and allow the quick transfer of video to a computer.

Today's student is constantly using technology, outside the classroom.

They are always creating You Tube videos at home or viewing media on television. By creating these movie trailers for classic short stories, my students will put their technological skills to good use.
