My Students

Do you remember the first time you saw a piece of artwork that captured your imagination? I want my students to feel that way everyday by providing them with many different art images to be inspired by.

I teach visual art in a high-poverty charter school.

Most of my students have never been to a museum or gallery and have a very limited understanding of art history. The art images I show them in art class introduce them to images and ideas they have never been exposed to before.

My Project

Being able to show my students examples of master artworks will inspire them in creating their own art projects. In addition, they will gain a better understanding of history through art. When my students walk into my classroom I would love for them to be surrounded by examples of artwork from all different time periods.

The visual art classroom is a place for students to find inspiration.

It is one of the only opportunities a student gets during the school day to express themselves and where there are no right or wrong answers. Looking at master artist's artwork will spark the creativity that lives inside all of my students.
