This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Education is not about the filling of a pail, but the fueling of fire" said William Yeats and it is so true. Inspire a child and you have a learner for life.

Located in a small rural Texas town, I have so many great kids who strive to be the best.

They dream big and we want those dreams realized through instruction which is student-centered and engaging. They are curious and the curiosity about learning processes outside of their everyday realm inspires and encourages this curiosity.

My Project

Everyone needs to speak properly. If the only thing students take from theatre class is the ability to speak more clearly and with a greater ability for correct grammar and pronunciation - then they have a life-long skill. The use of yoga mats will enable me to utilize voice techniques of Alexandra training, Shakespeare, and Patty Reardon where the processes of relaxation and tension release strengthens the voice and mind.

These mats will allow students to fully experience these renowned techniques and apply them to everyday life as well as in their theatre work.

They will travel outside the realm of colloquial slang and incorporate a broader spectrum of standard American and English pronunciations.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
