My Students

My school is the only “green” school in Florida. The design is such that natural light is let into the class, and the lights do not even need to be turned on. The school was built from recycled materials. Our cafeteria is organic, natural and healthy.

I teach a second grade class of 30 students.

I have very little resources to work with due to budget restraints. Our school focuses on recycling, composting, and gardening. We are trying to begin a cycle of recycling that will flourish from healthy café to compost to garden and back to healthy cafe. I want to teach my students to recycle all that you can and use it for a good purpose. I want to also teach them about using a worm bin in the classroom.

My Project

Therefore, I need your help. I am involved in a wellness committee that is working hard to create the best environment for our students. We want to teach our students to use the environment in a healthy way, both for us as people, but also for the future world. I want to teach my students the natural process of feeding our lunch waste to worms, which will then create castings that help to fertilize our gardens. I want them to know that we don't need to use chemicals in our gardens to help them grow.

Your help will ensure that my students will be able to learn about the process of recycling our waste and the natural process of composting.

This could help to make a difference in the future of our world.
