My Students

Our school TV studio has limited resources to teach students about writing and producing the daily news show. With a Flip Camcorder, we can leave the TV studio and go out to record the great things happening in our school community.

The fifth graders involved in this project are part of our school news crew.

They run the TV studio equipment and produce a live daily news program for our school of over 700 students. To be on the crew, each student had to apply for the job and explain their interest in the news. Some of them told how they liked having the responsibility of bringing the news to our school. Others told me how they enjoy learning the technology used in TV production. I want to build upon their interests and enthusiasm and guide them to creating a weekly news show to highlight positive events around our school community.

My Project

If my students had a Flip camcorder to share, they will be able to report on special activities around the school. They will then include these video clips in our special news show while they learn more about working with others while reporting, producing videos, and being responsible.

With your generous donations, my fifth grade news crew will be able to report positive events around our school and share them with the rest of the school.

This will help the crew build their video production skills, but it will also positively impact our school but letting classes see what other students are doing around our school. The impact on our school could be amazing!
