My Students

Dedicating Ourselves To Success The acronym for this phrase ties in with our classroom theme of DOTS. Our room is very colorful and inviting. This rug fits perfectly because it matches the theme and color without being overwhelming. I might add here that our room is very visually stimulating.

Each year, I seem to have at least four different languages as the primary language being spoken at home.

Our colorful DOT theme is a simplistic representation of how we all have differences and yet have so many similarities. The theme (Dedicating Ourselves To Success) is used to inspire the children to realize that if they, themselves, give it their all, the chances of succeeding increase exponentially.

My Project

By having the visual representation of our theme (the DOTS on the carpet), every time the children gather at the carpet, it becomes a learning moment and serves as a continuing reminder to their dedication to success. An important aspect throughout our school building is centered around acceptance and celebration of each child as an individual. At the carpet, we hold class meetings, many of which center around character education which I truly feel builds the strongest foundation that we can give our students for success in today's world. I also hand-make tiny note cards with DOTS on them that I give to the children when I notice them going above & beyond in any manner to improve themselves or a classmate, whether it is academically, socially, or emotionally. Once again, the "DOT" is associated as a positive visual that they see and instantly brings a smile to their faces.

When students from former years visit the classroom, the first thing they comment on are the DOTS throughout the room.

By now adding this to the carpet, it will be embedded that much more. It is my hope that, for years to come whenever they see DOTS, they'll be reminded to re-dedicate themselves to success. Join us today and whenever you see DOTS, remind yourself to continually dedicate yourself to success. ...
