This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Shouldn't high school students have the basic tools to learn vocabulary and basic geography?

I teach American and European history in an inner-city, high-needs, charter high school to a student body with over 50% enrolled in the free and reduced lunch program.

These students are good kids who want to earn a better life than their parents by going to college and attaining a good job.

My Project

Dictionaries and world atlases are very important tools that most teachers, students and schools take for granted. My students in the past have used the very few, outdated materials I have had for so long, they are falling apart. Updated and more dictionaries and atlases will help my students raise their state standardized tests and allow them to take an active role in their education. Something so simple can make an major impact!

An improved vocabulary and geographic knowledge will provide students with the confidence to succeed in state exams, graduate college, and feel comfortable attending college courses.

A lack of school funds prevent the purchase of these basic educator tools and only through donations can my students attain these simple tools to achieve major goals.
