My students need several kits for live specimens of frogs, butterflies, mealworms, ants, praying mantis, ladybugs, hermit crabs and fish.

My Students

We would like our class to be overrun with animals! I am no Dr. Doolittle, but I'm sure that a few of my students could make that claim. My students would love a 'pet library'.

We took a vote and have decided that since neither dogs, nor cats are allowed in school just about every insect, fish or reptile would be permissible.

My budding entomologists, and veterinarians are part of a school community where more than 80% are economically disadvantaged. To mitigate the effects that such poverty presents I am striving to enrich their educational experiences and broaden their horizons by exposing them to things they may not otherwise experience.

My Project

To that end I would like to have the students witness, firsthand, the metamorphosis and life cycle of these animals. This proposal serves as a win-win because it satisfies our state science curriculum for 2nd grade, but also affords the children hands-on, inquiry based learning experience. Collectively, this will foster a spirit of nurturing as we are charged with the care and maintenance of our pets.

We hope that you will help bring this proposal to fruition.

It would be such an awesome opportunity for students who would not have this opportunity otherwise. Please consider feeding my students' minds with the wonder of life cycles.
