My Students

Our preschool program has grown from one small class to 3 classes this year. Our old sandbox is small and falling apart. We need sand and toys for a newer, larger sandbox that will allow more of our students to build social, fine motor, and sensory skills.

Our students live in one of the lowest income regions of Hawaii.

Many come from homes in poverty and are on free and reduced lunch programs. Our students are ready and eager to learn. We strive to provide a safe environment for them to grow and learn. Fresh, clean sand and toys will help us achieve that goal.

My Project

We are excited to increase our preschool capacity from one small special needs class to the special needs class and two full sized preschools. However, this means our original sandbox is woefully inadequate. My students need a refreshed and expanded sand play area. With new, fresh sand we will be able to fill a new sandbox, and the sand activity toys will allow creative play.

Our children need the sensory and fine motor play in the sandbox to develop.

They need clean sand to stay healthy. Playing in the sandbox also teaches cooperation and social skills.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
