My Students

Do you remember the excitement of learning something new in school? My students have very special needs and deserve the chance to have those same feelings. Starting the school year off on the right foot will help them gain the confidence they need to be successful.

These students are in a special education program in NYC.

There are 12 students with one teacher and one para. They are very special children with very special needs. They do not learn like the majority of the students in public schools. They deserve the same opportunities for education as general students do. To see their faces light up when the do learn something is priceless and I want them to have every opportunity to feel that success. They strive for success daily and with a little help, we can work together to make it a little easier for them.

My Project

I am requesting some materials that I know will make their learning experience much easier. Having the right materials takes the pressure off the students to imagine the lesson verses actually seeing it. Some of these materials will foster independence that they so desperately need. Most teachers and parents feel that special education children can not do things for themselves and with your help we can prove them wrong. Having math tools that are dry erase and magnetic will allow the students to re-use them as often as needed. The partitions will allow them to focus without distraction from other stimuli. Teaching clocks with student clocks will allow these children a hands on approach to time telling which is a very important life skill. Pencils and sharpeners are a cost that I would love to save the parents from especially the specialty pencils. Lastly is the organizer materials that will help me teach them to organize themselves.

Please help these special education get the education they deserve.

Life is already a struggle for them and we can make it easier for them. They need life skills as well as an education and having the right material can make a real difference in their lives. I implore you to help me make a difference in the lives of these children. Starting off on the right foot will only lead to a very successful year and with your help these children can have one.
