I Want To Tell A Story Too!

My students need a flannel board and flannel pieces of well known stories and nursery rhymes.

"Once upon a time..." do you remember retelling your favorite story, or making up a story? My students want to retell stories, but want pictures too!

My students love to read and be read to.

Many days it is not uncommon to see my students acting out or retelling the story that we just read. However many times they do this without the addition of pictures (although not a bad thing), some of my students need that extra visual reference. I am asking for a flannel board, and the pictures of characters and scenery of classic books, and nursery rhymes to help my students put their words to pictures. Not only are these important for the students to have access to when they are using their imagination to retell a story, but it is also an important tool for me while I am reading the story. Flannel boards and story pieces are important for keeping the students involved during the reading of the story, or the introduction of the nursery rhymes.

My Project

I cannot wait to have you help fund my project so that my students can use their imaginations and retell or make up new stories using props. I have found that many times my students do not have the same depth of imagination as children in years past have. Therefore, the students are developing this crucial part of their brain, but they will enjoy sharing with their friends the stories that they hear in class. The students will also become engaged in the reading of classic stories by being able to add each piece as that character or prop is added in the story.

I cannot wait to see my student's imaginations run wild with new stories created, old stories retold, and nursery rhymes sung!
