This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Walking into a library, my eyes are naturally drawn to the books that are on display. I look at the cover and pick ones that look interesting. I want my students to have the same options when picking a book. Keeping books in bins don't allow them to "read" the titles.

I have 22-24 special education preschool students.

My classroom is often their first experience in school. Besides teaching state standards we also work on their special needs to assist them with daily living skills as well as academics. My classroom is constantly in motion and an exciting learning environment.

My Project

Imagine walking up to a pile of jewelry and not being able to find the one you want because it's in a heap. My students "jewels" are hidden away in bins because they lack a display case. Help unlock the beauty of books by giving them a way to display their "jewels".

As the new school year starts and I put the room together, I keep focusing on my reading corner as see the missing shelving unit.

I have the books stored in milk crate bins but I know it will be an area that will require daily work to clean up and repair torn books. Please help my students with this need.
