My students need 34 copies of Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights, an electronic stapler, staples, and an electronic hole-punch.

My Students

Emily Bronte's wisdom about work ethic teaches us that "A person who has not done one half his day's work by ten o clock, runs a chance of leaving the other half undone." Work undone is usually a result of poor organization, and organizing is our focus now.

My students are an amazing group of New York public school seniors who have elected, and competed, to be a part of the elite Advanced Placement (AP - CollegeBoard) English Literature class.

They are astute learners who will most certainly perform to the highest level when given the opportunity. These are 100% college-bound seniors who take an average of three AP classes each because they want to succeed and make a difference in the world.

My Project

Catherine Earnshaw of Wuthering Heights once said: "My love for Linton is like the foliage in the woods: time will change it, I'm well aware, as winter changes the trees. My love for Heathcliff resembles the eternal rocks beneath: a source of little visible delight, but necessary. Nelly, I am Heathcliff! He's always, always in my mind: not as a pleasure, any more than I am always a pleasure to myself, but as my own being. So don't talk of our separation again: it is impracticable;" and that is how my students will feel about literature when they have an opportunity to read this classic. Alongside of the books, I am requesting an electric stapler and hole punch because I have spent the summer organizing Advanced Placement packets that pertain to Wuthering Heights (and As I Lay Dying - see "Part I"); however, they are so thick that I cannot possibly put them together for my students. These materials will ensure success, IF they can be organized!

With your support, you will be investing in a group of students who are guaranteed to perform to their utmost potential.

They will read this novel, part of them will change from understanding and living in Bronte's world, and as a final result - they will grow. They will be able to be organized, keeping their binders full of AP materials that they will now be able to transport daily. You have the ability to add depth and breadth to other human beings; I hope you will take on the challenge.
