Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help them learn by doing! After reading and talking about classic fairy tales and nursery rhymes, children will have a chance to act them out using the masks and puppets. Dramatic play will help the students remember the classics.

As a totally inclusive school, kids range from severe needs in Special Education to well above grade level.

This challenges teachers to meet each student where they are educationally. In addition, many children are English language learners. Children need to access the curriculum, just a a slightly different way. We are a public school and would appreciate any help given.

My Project

Masks will let the students become the characters from classical stories like Goldilocks and the Three Bears. These washable masks can be used for years to come providing a wonderful experience for hundreds of early elementary school students. Puppets will provide another exciting way of expressing characters like Chicken Little or Cinderella. The puppet tree will provide a neat and clean way to store all these wonderful characters. Other stories that will be acted out include The Bremen Town Musicals, The Ugly Duckling, King Midas, The Gingerbread Man, Little Red Riding Hood, and many many more.

Repeating these stories while using their bodies to act them out incorporates the senses and allows kids to SHINE!!! Thank You!!
